Jeremy Renner has pleaded with Sony Pictures to allow Spider-Man back into Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The 48-year-old actor, who plays Hawkeye aka Clint Barton in The Avengers films, was reacting to the news that superhero Spider-Man will no longer be part of the MCU.
In 2015, an agreement was made to allow the character, played by Tom Holland, to appear alongside other Marvel characters, but it’s expired and the two studios reached a stand-off as they couldn’t agree on terms – meaning Marvel and its boss Kevin Feige will no longer be involved in Spider-Man films.

Hawkeye character from the MCU blockbuster Avengers: Endgame.
Renner also tagged his MCU co-stars including Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr., Thor actor Chris Hemsworth and Guardian’s of the Galaxy’s Zoe Saldana, along with the late Stan Lee, Marvel, and Sony.
In response to the reports of the deal, a Sony Pictures spokesperson released a statement, which focused on Feige’s departure as producer of the films.
“We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live-action Spider-Man film,” the statement read.
