Jon Bon Jovi crashes New Jersey college graduation with surprise performance

Jon Bon Jovi surprised graduating students at Fairleigh Dickinson University by performing at their commencement ceremony on Tuesday (16May17).
The students won a MTVU contest to have the hitmaker appear at the graduation ceremony at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford and perform the band’s song Reunion from its new album This House is Not For Sale.
Fans were encouraged to share their best college moments on social media by using the hashtag #JBJReunionContest in a bid to win the contest.
“We are going to pop up and surprise the school that had the most votes to get us to come,” Bon Jovi said on Good Morning America on Tuesday (16May17) morning before his performance. “I can only give you a hint that it is a big locker room. I have played in many of buildings over the course of our career.”
The band previously played at the venue in 2010 for four nights.
Bon Jovi had to scrap two shows at nearby Madison Square Garden in New York last month (Apr17) in order to recover from bronchitis. The rocker was too sick to complete a show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 5 April, and he opted to take a break from touring to get healthy. The New York shows were quickly rescheduled.
