Jordin Sparks Wants American Idol Job

Pregnant singer Jordin Sparks wants to be part of the American Idol reboot after getting a taste of the new show this summer.

The star won the talent show’s sixth season at the age of 17, and she was invited back to be part of the auditions launch a few months ago – before Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan were named Katy Perry’s fellow judges on the revamped series.

And now Jordin wants a more fixed role on the show.

“I want to be (a part of it),” she tells Us Weekly. “I got to do the kickoff for the auditions this past summer. It was really cool to experience that, in a different capacity. Instead of being the one standing in line, I was there kind of just like looking at everything and observing, which was really cool. I would love to be a part of the show.

“Whatever they ask and whatever they work out, I think it would be a really fun thing to be a part of.”

The new Idol will debut in 2018 as Sparks prepares to become a first-time mum. She recently revealed that she and her new husband Dana Isaiah are expecting a baby boy.

“We’re beyond excited to be having a little boy. We cannot wait to meet him and love him so much already!” the pair told People after revealing the happy news over Thanksgiving.

Jordin, 27, and her 25-year-old beau went public with their relationship in July – and eloped while on vacation in Hawaii later that month. Jordin found out she was pregnant in late August.

“It was like such a shock for both of us, and then I started bawling in the closet,” Jordin told People of the moment she found out she was pregnant. “They were shocked, scared and terrified tears! I’m going to be completely honest. I was just like, ‘Oh my gosh!'”

Jordin and Dana are now more than happy about having a baby together: “We’re really proud to be married to each other and to be celebrating this,” the mum-to-be smiled.
