Judge greenlights Quincy Jones royalties fight

Music mogul Quincy Jones has been given permission to take his royalties dispute with the executors of Michael Jackson’s estate to court.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Stern has ruled a jury should decide if the producer is owed money from his work with the King of Pop.
Jones sued bosses at the estate and Sony Music Entertainment in 2013, seeking upwards of $10 million (£7.1 million).
He claimed the defendants re-edited songs like Billie Jean and Thriller for the This Is It concert film and Cirque du Soleil’s Jackson-inspired shows in a bid to deprive him of royalties.
Jackson’s estate and Sony Music executives have denied any wrongdoing.
