Julia Louis-Dreyfus Fights Back Tears During SAG Speech About Immigrants

Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus used her acceptance speech at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night (29Jan17) to blast U.S. leader Donald Trump‘s new immigration ban.

Noting she was the daughter of an immigrant, the Veep star held back tears as she picked up the show’s first honor for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.

“My father fled religious persecution in Nazi-occupied France and I am an American patriot and I love this country and because I love this country I’m horrified by its blemishes, and this immigrant ban is a blemish and it’s un-American.”

On Friday (27Jan17), President Trump signed an executive order preventing travellers from countries like Iran, Iraq and Syria entering the United States.

As a result, tourists and travelers at airports were left stranded after they were refused seats on planes headed to America and blocked from entering the country upon arrival.
