A Tony? Julia Roberts don’t need a Tony–not when she’s got her adoring fans ready to hand her the accolades.
Although snubbed by the Tonys this year, Roberts was still named this year’s Favorite Leading Actress in a Play by Broadway.com for her work in Three Days of Rain. The theater Web site held an online voting poll, in which more than 108,000 theater fans voted for Roberts as their favorite.
Roberts collected her trophy just minutes before her last Rain performance on Sunday at the Jacobs Theatre, presented to her by Broadway.com’s Editor-in-Chief Paul Wontorek. Her co-star Bradley Cooper also went home with Favorite Featured Actor in a Play.
Rain, which ended its limited engagement on June 18, received mostly negative reviews but enjoyed a sold-out run. In its final week, Three Days of Rain grossed $1,046,354 and filled the seats with 100.22% capacity, according to Broadway.com.
