Kelsea Ballerini stunned by Reba McEntire’s drinks invite

Singer Kelsea Ballerini is still pinching herself after getting the chance to bond with country music icon Reba Mcentire over dinner and drinks.
The two artists are set to perform a duet together at the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards on Wednesday (08Nov17), and Kelsea reveals Reba helped to put her nerves at ease by inviting the 24-year-old to hang out away from the stage.
“The other day I got a text from a mutual friend that said, ‘Are you in Nashville? Reba wants to grab a drink,'” Ballerini recalled to The Associated Press. “I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah!'”
“I am so glad (Reba) did reach out to do that because we didn’t even talk about music. We just hung out and got to know each other.”
The get-together was a dream come true for Kelsea, who is still in disbelief at the prospect of singing her new track Legends with Reba, as she has long admired the veteran’s career.
“It is so not casual (when we hang out), I’m a fan before I’m an artist,” she told abc15.com.
“We practised (the performance) but also went to dinner, that was her idea. She is such a pro, she is always just calming because she has done it before.”
Although the pair will be teaming up together onstage, they will also be each other’s competitor as they are both nominated for the Female Vocalist of the Year prize at the Nashville, Tennessee ceremony.
Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, and Little Big Town lead all nominees heading into the event with five nods apiece.
The CMA Awards, hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, will also feature a special performance by Niall Horan and Maren Morris, who will debut their new duet, Seeing Blind.
