Lana Del Rey duets with Leonard Cohen’s son at tribute gig

Singer Lana Del Rey saluted Leonard Cohen at a tribute gig on Monday (06Nov17) by teaming up with the late icon’s son for a special duet.
Adam Cohen, who is also a musician, organised the star-studded show at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada to celebrate his father’s legacy on the eve of the first anniversary of his death.
During his set, Adam invited Lana to the stage to perform a cover of Leonard’s 1974 song Chelsea Hotel No. 2, a track the Summertime Sadness hitmaker recorded her take on in 2013.
There were also performances from Elvis Costello, Sting, k.d. lang, and Feist, who sang her version of Hey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye, while Courtney Love delivered a rendition of Everybody Knows.
Coldplay star Chris Martin, Celine Dion, and Peter Gabriel also made appearances via separate pre-recorded videos, in which they belted out Tower of Song.
Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie took to the stage to share a little anecdote about their wedding day in 2005, when the bride walked down the aisle to a gospel version of Cohen classic Hallelujah, while they enjoyed their first dance to his tune I’m Your Man.
Comedy actor Seth Rogen also joined in the fun, performing a dramatic reading of Field Commander Cohen, a song featured on Cohen’s 1974 album New Skin for the Old Ceremony.
