Late Sam Simon’s exes want millions from his estate

The exes of late The Simpsons co-creator Sam Simon are seeking a slice of his million-dollar estate.
Nearly a year after the TV mogul lost his battle with colon cancer in March (15), his girlfriend at the time of his death, Kate Porter, has filed a claim against his estate seeking $5 million (£3.1 million) of his fortune – despite the fact he did not name her a beneficiary in his will.
Instead he chose to dedicated his $100 million (£70 million) fortune to charities and animal rights organisations, for which he was a renowned advocate for much of his life.
In legal documents obtained by TMZ.com, make-up artist Porter calls herself Simon’s “intimate” partner for the last three years of his life, and alleges that her former beau promised to leave her the tax-free millions in his will if she agreed to “refrain from continuing to work.” She claims she maintained her end of the deal, and therefore is entitled to her promised share.
Meanwhile, Simon’s ex-wife, actress Jennifer Tilly, has lodged separate papers claiming that their 1993 divorce agreement guarantees she has an ongoing community property interest in The Simpsons and Simon’s other TV projects.
Her documents were filed in December (15), and it is unclear whether she has already settled her claim.
Tilly was married to Simon from 1984 to 1991 and remained close friends with her former spouse up until his tragic passing.
