Lee Daniels’ Empire stars endorse Hillary Clinton

Director Lee Daniels has recruited his Empire stars Taraji P. Henson and Gabourey Sidibe to front a new campaign endorsing U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Actors Jussie Smollett, Bryshere Gray, Tasha Smith, Trai Byers, and his wife Grace Byers also appear in the What Will You Say? ad, which was shot by Daniels to throw their support behind the Democratic nominee, who will go up against controversial Republican Donald Trump on 8 November (16).
In the video, the stars urge voters to stand up and make their voices heard to back Clinton, who, if elected to the White House, has pledged to work on gun control laws, protecting and promoting women’s rights issues, and continuing to provide access to affordable healthcare for all U.S. residents.
She has also spoken out against multiple instances of police brutality, particularly in light of the recent spate of fatal shootings of African-Americans at the hands of authorities.
The Empire co-stars address each of the issues in the What Will You Say? campaign, stating, “The violence and nasty rhetoric against mankind is unacceptable. If Trump gets into office, it will only get worse.”
“There’s only one person in this race who said Black Lives Matter,” they add, as Daniels urges his fellow U.S. citizens to head to the polls next month (Nov16), saying, “So many men and women died for us to have the right to vote. Every time we sit out, we dishonour their sacrifices.”
They join the likes of George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Madonna, Meryl Streep and Eva Longoria in endorsing Clinton and slamming Trump for his many offensive and racist comments, including branding all illegal Mexican immigrants in the U.S. criminals and rapists, and offending many in the African-American community by claiming they live in poverty, have no education, and have bad jobs.
