Leslie Jones Heading to 2018 Winter Olympics as TV Host

Leslie Jones has signed up as a presenter of NBC’s coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

The Saturday Night Live star helped host coverage of the 2016 summer games in Rio and proved a hit with viewers due to her infectious enthusiasm for the sporting showpiece.

As a result NBC bosses have signed her up to report on the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea in February.

“Experiencing the Olympics through the lens of Leslie is unlike anything else,” Jim Bell, NBC’s Olympics Production and Programming President said in a press release. “Her passion for Team USA is contagious, and her adventures in South Korea should be fascinating.”

Leslie was recruited to cover the 2016 Olympics after repeatedly tweeting about the games and America’s athletes while watching on television. NBC bosses then flew her out to Rio to watch the games and report in person.

Just weeks after delighting fans with her commentary on Twitter, the 50-year-old comedienne was tormented by trolls on the social media website.

She was subject to a hate campaign allegedly orchestrated by former Breitbart News journalist Milo Yiannopoulos, which resulted in her receiving racist messages and the leaking of intimate photographs.

The 2018 Winter Olympics begins with an opening ceremony at the PyeongChang Olympic Stadium on 9 February (18).
