Lieberman to tilt at Hollywood windmills

Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn., will load his biggest guns against Hollywood on Thursday. Lieberman is expected to make public a letter asking President Bush to endorse legislation that would hold Hollywood liable for marketing violence to children. The legislation, cosponsored by Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., would give the Federal Trade Commission authority to punish studios, record labels, and game manufacturers for pushing adult-themed movies, songs and video games to kids. A comparable bill is expected to be presented in the House of Representatives that same day, sponsored by Rep. Steven Israel, D-N.Y., President Bush has not yet commented on the issue or the legislation.
