Liev Schreiber to voice villain in Spider-Man animated movie

Actor Liev Schreiber is returning to the Marvel film franchise to voice the villain in a planned animated Spider-Man movie.
The Ray Donovan star previously channelled his dark side to portray Wolverine’s archenemy Sabretooth in 2009’s X-Men: Origins Wolverine, in which he appeared opposite Hugh Jackman as the clawed titular mutant, and now Liev has joined the voice cast for Sony Pictures’ new picture.
Specific details about his character have yet to be revealed, but he will go up against Dope actor Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, the half-black, half-Latino teen who takes over the web-slinging alter-ego of Spider-Man following the death of original protagonist Peter Parker.
Donald Glover voiced Morales in animated Disney series Ultimate Spider-man: Web Warriors.
Rapper-turned-actor Ice Cube had also previously been rumoured to be in negotiations to play Morales’ father, Jefferson Davis.
The as-yet-untitled standalone project, which will hit cinemas in December, 2018, will be directed by Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey, from a script by The LEGO Movie’s Phil Lord. He and his filmmaking partner Chris Miller will serve as executive producers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
