When it comes to style icons, Brit beauties Sienna Miller and Kate Moss top the list among today’s trendsetters. At least this was the general consensus among the Hollywood glamour girls at a recent bash thrown by fashionable Life & Style Weekly magazine.
The stars chatted with Hollywood.com about their favorite fashion idols on the red carpet at the chic Montmartre Lounge, a Hollywood Boulevard hot spot, where celebrity dresses were auctioned for the First Annual “Stylemakers’ 2005” event. It was set up to raise funds for the Clothes Off Our Backs Foundation, a charity founded by real-life couple Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the Middle) and Bradley Whitford (The West Wing) that sells star frocks to bolster worthy causes such as the Cure Autism Foundation.
“I’m here for the cause and to donate a dress,” Carmen Electra, a regular fixture in the pages of Life & Style, told Hollywood.com. “It’s a dress that I wore when I went to visit the troops, and I think it’s a really good cause and I’m really happy to be here and be a part of it.” Electra looked stunning in her billowy Olga Capastina gown but admitted she had a hard time remembering who she was wearing. “I was trying to remember the name on the way out and Dave [Navarro] called it San Juan Capistrano. It totally messed me up,” she giggled.
The lovely Sin City star Brittany Murphy–who gracefully strolled down the carpet in a fabulous powdery blue, belted Dolce & Gabbana dress–admitted her Aunt Tessy gave her a great sense of style, along with her other couture heroes such as Madonna and Marilyn Monroe. Until Brittany herself graces the pages of Life & Style Weekly, we’ll have to take her word for it.
But the It Girls most frequently talked about during the evening were actress Miller, Jude Law‘s real-life love, and supermodel Moss. “I love Kate Moss and Sienna Miller. Those London girls, those British girls. They really know what they’re doing,” Electra said.
“I have two celebrities that I currently really like their style and it would be Kate Moss and Sienna Miller,” Tori Spelling agreed. “Kate Moss has always been a huge icon to me for years. I just think she has such eclectic, great style. Loves vintage and she knows how to mix it with new and designer stuff. And Sienna Miller for being up and coming and young. She has great style as well.”
“This is my new accessory, my Kooba bag. Actually it channels Sienna Miller who is, like, my favorite style guru,” beamed vintage-clad actress Golden Brooks. “I’m in love with her. This is my new ‘everything’ bag. They actually made it for Sienna Miller. It’s between her and Kate Moss. You know what it is? It’s that I’m from Berkeley and so it’s all about sixties and where I grew up it was very hippie chic.”
But the ladies weren’t the only ones in search of fashion tips and the latest gossip. Shawn Pyfrom (Marcia Cross‘ son on Desperate Housewives) came with his girlfriend Eliana. “I like Dolce & Gabbana a lot,” Shawn admitted. “Well, you know, it’s fashion, and I do enjoy fashion.”
Actor Dwayne Adway unabashedly admitted he loves Life & Style Weekly and the way the magazine gets the inside scoop on the always turbulent love lives and scandals of the A-List. “I get all the latest gossip about what’s going on in the world of entertainment. Who’s dating who and all the ends and outs of what’s going with the entertainment business.”
Adway confessed he just can’t enough of the gossip. “I want to know more about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Really, it’s my weekly soap opera to find out what’s going on with the latest with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Now I’m kind of getting into the whole Nick and Jessica thing, and hopefully their marriage will work out. It’s tough being in the entertainment business and being married. But, you know it’s like everyone wants them to break up.”
Inside the event, American Idol‘s 2004 champ Fantasia Barrino blew the roof off the Montmartre with her blistering, power-vocal performance for the many celeb partygoers–including Courtney Peldon, Bai Ling, Nikka Costa, Nate Dogg, Patrick Muldoon, Stacey Dash, Jill Jones, sisters Joely and Tricia Leigh Fisher and Fosworth Bentley, as well as fashion designer Kevan Hall and still super-duper model Cheryl Tiegs, who reminded everyone what a fashion icon REALLY looks like.
