Madonna thrills children in Manila

Madonna thrilled children in Manila after making a surprise visit at two centres for disadvantaged kids.
The pop superstar toured the Hospicio de San Jose orphanage and the Bahay Tuluyan shelter for street kids on Tuesday (23Feb16) ahead of her two concerts in the capital of the Philippines.
Workers at Bahay Tuluyan were informed that Madonna’s backing dancers would be visiting, but had no idea the Like A Prayer singer would turn up until just an hour before her arrival. Officials at the Hospicio de San Jose were equally as surprised by her visit, according to the Associated Press.
Madonna happily posed for photographs with the children during her time at the two organisations, some of which she posted to her Instagram account. “Hats off to the Bahay Tulyan Foundation in Manilla for taking so many kids off the street and providing food and shelter!” she praised.
The music icon has a history of getting involved with orphanages and children’s centres, founding the Raising Malawi charity in 2006, to help poverty stricken youngsters in the African nation.
However she drew controversy from the country after she adopted two Malawian children, Mercy and David, as it was allegedly in contravention of the state’s adoption law.
Madonna’s two concerts in Manila, part of her Rebel Heart world tour, are scheduled for Wednesday (24Feb16) and Thursday (25Feb16).
