Actress Mandy Moore lost her cool after a chance meeting with former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden at the Super Bowl on Sunday (04Feb18).
Moore was attending a pre-game event ahead of the American football extravaganza in Minneapolis, Minnesota with her This Is Us co-stars when she spotted Biden and his wife Jill also enjoying the festivities.
“Oh my gosh, you guys, I was shaking,” she shared on breakfast show Today. “Literally, we were standing at this tailgate (parking lot pre-game) party, and I turn around and I go, ‘Joe Biden!’ and he happened to be looking at me. He was like, ‘Hi.’. I totally fan girled (got overexcited) and freaked out at him.”
After the unexpected meeting, Mandy posted a photo of herself and her castmates, including Sterling K. Brown and Milo Ventimiglia, with the Bidens on Instagram, and captioned the group shot, “No words,” alongside a shocked face emoji.
She also uploaded a video of her reaction to her Instagram Story timeline, exclaiming, “That was Joe and Dr. Jill, and I’m still not OK, and I don’t think I’m ever going to be OK. That was my Super Bowl highlight.”
As for the clash between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots, Mandy confessed she felt bad occupying prime seats at the U.S. Bank Stadium as she isn’t really into football.
Describing the atmosphere in the venue as “electric”, she explained, “I feel sort of guilty because I’m not the biggest sports fan…, but my dad was at the game with me and my boyfriend (sic), so it was really fun to have that sort of… celebratory atmosphere…”
Mandy, who is engaged to Dawes rocker Taylor Goldsmith, had been invited to attend the Super Bowl with her This Is Us colleagues as guests of the show’s producing officials at NBC, who also broadcast the big game.
A new episode of the popular family drama aired immediately after the Super Bowl, which the Eagles won 41 to 33.
