Marcia Gay Harden: ‘Fifty Shades sex scenes are beautiful’

Actress Marcia Gay Harden has been forced to wait to see the sex scenes in the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel along with film fans.
The Oscar winner, who plays sex-hungry businessman Christian Grey’s mother in the film franchise based on author E.L. James’ erotic thrillers, reveals only stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson and a select handful of crew members were on the set for the steamy scenes in the sequel.
And, like many fans, she can’t wait to see their lovemaking sequences in Fifty Shades Darker when it is released next year (Feb17).
Revealing the scenes took place on a “closed set”, Marcia has heaped praise on her young co-stars, insisting a sex shoot on a movie takes a lot out of the actors involved.
“I’ve just gotta hand it to both Dakota and Jamie…,” she tells Access Hollywood Live. “It can be very strenuous and very emotional and very vulnerable and they just carry it off beautifully to keep it in that sexy, titillating place.”
The actress was also thrilled to get the chance to work with Kim Basinger in the sequel, and there’s one scene she can’t wait for fans to see: “There is a party and she comes in and they’re (Basinger’s character and Christian) having some argument and my character understands what happened with them… she abused him, and I slap her.
“The fans are very excited to see what happens there. Kim and I did the scene again and again; we couldn’t do the face slap… but my character is a mother bear. If anybody hurt my kids… I would tackle them.”
And she insists fans of E.L. James’ Fifty Shades book will really enjoy the film, adding, “I think it sticks very much to the script. It’s very sexy, it’s very erotic, but the turn is that it’s love.”
