Margot Robbie’s Oscars gown will ‘stand up in history’

Margot Robbie’s stylist has promised an Oscars dress that will go down in fashion history.

The 27-year-old is up for the Best Actress Academy Award at the ceremony in Hollywood on Sunday (04Mar18), after impressing critics with her performance as Tonya Harding in biographical movie I, Tonya.

With all eyes guaranteed to be on the Australian film star, her stylist Kate Young has ensured Margot’s gown will be one to remember.

“It needs to stand up in history,” she stated to The Telegraph. “Everything is ready. The designer and style were in place about five weeks ago, the colour we confirmed about three weeks ago. This is one dress you do not leave to the last minute.”

Kate has previously picked out the perfect outfits for other famous faces in Tinseltown, including Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams and Dakota Johnson. And with the Oscars buzz capturing worldwide attention, the stylist explains that it is essential to find the right design house to collaborate with.

“It’s more formal than any other event, you can really go for it,” she smiled, adding that top brands are willing to invest a lot in order to have their designs displayed on the red carpet.

And while Margot will be feeling the pressure as she waits to hear whether she’ll be crowned winner or not, it’s just as nerve-wracking for the brains behind her look.

“Honestly, I think of it as the end. I have a lot of nerves because I haven’t seen anything in the flesh yet, and I am ambitious and competitive and want to be the best,” Kate told WWD. “All the months of hard work comes down to this. After Margot goes to the Oscars, I have a drink, and as soon as it’s over my stylist friends and I just text each other.”
