Troubled actor Mark Salling has died from a suspected suicide.
The former Glee star’s body has been found by the Los Angeles River in Sunland, California, near where he lived, according to TMZ.
Salling, 35, was awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography involving a pre-pubescent minor.
The actor appeared in court in Los Angeles on 18 December (17), two months after striking a deal in his case, after prosecutors found more than 50,000 images of child porn and child erotica on his laptop computer and a flash memory drive during a 2015 raid on his home.
He was facing 20 years in prison at the time of his arrest, but he was expected to serve no more than seven thanks to the deal he made with prosecutors. Salling agreed to serve at least four years behind bars, according to his plea agreement. He also agreed to serve 20 years of supervised release once he was set free, and pay at least $50,000 to each victim seeking restitution.
Due to be sentenced in March (18), Salling was out on bail at the time of his death.
The actor’s representative recently denied reports suggesting he had harmed himself in an alleged suicide attempt.
Sources told TMZ the star cut his wrists at his Los Angeles home in August (17), and was taken to the hospital, but his representative dismissed the story, telling the outlet, “Mark is physically fine and Mark is spending his time atoning and working on himself.”
Police officials are investigating his death.
