Mark Strong hints at Daniel Craig’s Bond exit

Daniel Craig has quit playing James Bond, according to his good friend Mark Strong.
Daniel has played the famed superspy for four movies and has constantly deflected questions about his future with the franchise, but his friend Mark has now appeared to confirm that Daniel does not want the role any more.
According to Mark, Daniel feels he has done all he can with the part and is ready to move on, and Mark is not sure he could convince him otherwise.
Mark made the slip-up after he was asked by Britain’s ShortList magazine if he would like to play a Bond villain, replying, “Do you know what, I’d have loved to have played the villain in a Bond movie while Daniel was doing it because he’s a pal and that would have been great. But I think he’s come to the end of his Bond time and so it’s probably never going to happen, but that would have always been great…
“He has been (wonderful) and he’s loved it. But I think he feels like he’s mined it. He’s done what he wants with it… That point has come.”
Mark would try to persuade Daniel to have one more go as Bond, but he is sure another outing is unlikely as “there are powers at work greater than us who make all these decisions”.
Mark’s comments come shortly after Daniel’s representative denied rumours he was quitting the franchise because of a part in the TV series Purity. The rep told Digitalspy.com the actor had made no decision on his future as Bond.
Daniel courted controversy when he told an interviewer he would rather “break this glass and slash my wrists” than appear in another 007 movie back in October (15).
He said, “We’re done. All I want to do is move on. For at least a year or two, I just don’t want to think about it… I don’t know what the next step is. I’ve no idea. Not because I’m trying to be cagey. Who the f**k knows? At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.”
He later claimed he was being flippant at the time.
