Tom Hanks was a nervous wreck at the Golden Globes on Sunday night (07Jan18), when he was asked to pick up martinis for his table guests.
The movie star was happy to hit the bar during the prizegiving when Steven Spielberg and others decided it was time for a tipple, but he didn’t consider how difficult it would be getting the drinks back.
“I was told to get martinis,” he tells Ellen DeGeneres. “It was like I was one of those truckers on mountain roads with a load of nitro-glycerine. I had never been so nervous…”

Hanks reveals one guest at his table who didn’t need a drink was his The Post co-star Meryl Streep, who was battling a bad cold.
“She was on antibiotics because she was getting over the flu,” he explains.
