Mary Steenburgen on ‘profound’ love for Ted Danson

Mary Steenburgen opened up on her “profound” love for husband Ted Danson.
The Step Brothers star, 65, met the Cheers actor in 1993, on the set of movie Pontiac Moon.
Mary and Ted wed two years later, and now have one of the strongest unions in Hollywood.
And the actress revealed how she keeps the romance alive in their 23-year marriage.
“(Our love) just gets more profound and deeper as we go through the blessings and joys, but also the hurdles, of life together,” she told People. “He is my partner in the deepest sense of the word in this life.”
And Mary is especially proud of how the couple successfully merged their two families when they married – Mary has two children from her first marriage to Malcolm McDowell, while Ted shares two daughters with ex-wife Casey Coates.
“We met when we were 40 and 45, and we had lived a bit. We met at a time when both of us had stared down some demons within ourselves and that was lucky that we met then,” she gushed.
“He is an amazing father, an amazing stepfather and an amazing grandfather.”
Mary also sweetly revealed that The Good Place star is called “Teddy” by his adoring grandchildren.
“We have been grandparents now for six years. We have two granddaughters, and they can’t stop climbing on him. They just adore him. They basically see him as a jungle gym… they just adore him,” she said.
The Oscar-winning actress explained that it was the little gestures 70-year-old Ted did for her that kept their relationship healthy.
“He is just kind to me every single day,” she said. “If he has an early call, I try to get up while it’s still dark and make him coffee and send him off and he does the same for me. I think it’s those little kindnesses that completely make up our life that are so appreciated.”
