Melissa Etheridge takes plea deal to escape jail in marijuana case

Rocker Melissa Etheridge has taken a plea deal to escape jail for marijuana possession.
The singer pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance – a Class B misdemeanour in North Dakota, where she was arrested in August (17) – and she has been fined $1,000 (GBP759).
Melissa has also been handed six months of unsupervised probation, according to TMZ.
The case will be tossed if she stays on the right side of the law.
Prosecutors wanted the rock star to submit to drug testing, but the judge shut the request down because Melissa has a medical marijuana card in California for cancer-related pain.
She was arrested near the U.S.-Canada border after a police dog sniffed out her marijuana oil on a tour bus.
