The Shame star will portray the You Can’t Go Home Again author, who was famous during the early 1900s, while Colin Firth has been cast as his beloved editor Max Perkins, who is credited with discovering the likes of Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Genius will follow their complex and life-long friendship. Scriptwriter John Logan will adapt the project based on A. Scott Berg’s award-wining biography Max Perkins: Editor of Genius, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Filming is due to begin in 2014.
