Migos star wants group to play The Lion King hyenas

Migos star Quavo has appealed to Disney bosses to cast the rap trio as the three hyenas in the planned live-action remake of The Lion King.
Actor Donald Glover, also known by his hip-hop moniker as Childish Gambino, has been cast as the voice of Simba, alongside Beyonce as Nala in the new movie, and Quavo wants the Bad and Boujee hitmakers to play a part in the revamp of the 1994 animated classic.
The rapper shared a photo of the full cast on Twitter, and then proposed Disney studio chiefs consider Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff as the new pack of wild animals, named Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed.
“3 Hyenas Lions King (sic),” he wrote, alongside an emoji of two raised hands. “call us @Disney”.
Unfortunately for Quavo, one of the hyena characters has already been cast – actress Florence Kasumba will take over from Whoopi Goldberg as the new voice of Shenzi. Disney officials have yet to name the actors for the remaining two hyena roles.
Migos aren’t the only stars eager to work on The Lion King – The Roots bandleader Questlove also recently offered up his musical services to help score the film.
“Um, anyone scoring this @Disney?” he posted on Instagram last week (ends03Nov17), alongside the same press release of the new cast.
Hans Zimmer will be returning to compose the music for the film, reprising his role from the original movie, which featured new songs written by lyricist Tim Rice and singer Elton John.
The live-action version of The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau, will also feature James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and comedians Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen, as Timon and Pumbaa, respectively. It is set to hit theatres in the summer of 2019.
