More CBS stations pick up syndicated “Link”

NBC affiliates in several top markets had such tight commitments to other programs that they were unable to clear time to carry the syndicated version of The Weakest Link, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday. As a result, the hit NBC primetime program has been grabbed up by CBS-owned stations in those markets. Ed Wilson, president of NBC Enterprises, which syndicates NBC-owned programming, told the WSJ, “This is a situation where the marketplace had a greater need than the NBC station in New York.” The newspaper said that Link had also been picked up by CBS stations in San Francisco and Baltimore and that CBS stations are also the leading candidates for the syndicated version of ABC’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
