MUSIC NOTES: Damage Control at Rap Awards

As they say in Hollywood, the show must go on — and so will the annual Source Hip-Hop Music Awards, fight or no fight.

The taping of that show at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium was cut short by Pasadena police on Tuesday after several brawls broke out in the audience. But on Wednesday, show organizers announced that they still plan on airing the event as scheduled on Aug. 29 on the UPN network.

About 2-1/2 hours of the show was tapped, including a performance by Lil’ Kim and appearances by Dr. Dre and Eminem, before the chaos. The rest of the show will be taped this week and edited together.
