MUSIC NOTES: More New Beatles Stuff

The Beatles at a dance club? Yep, it seems that Paul McCartney has got the itch to release a new dance track next week from never-released recordings from the Beatles’ jam sessions. The new track is called “Free Now” and was produced with the help of the Welsh band Super Fury Animals. It’ll be available next week on the new CD “The Liverpool Sound Collage.”

”It’s a new little piece of Beatles,” McCarthy told Reuters. ”It’s more underground than what you usually hear from me, but I like to be free enough to do this sort of thing.”

WHAT A DRAG IT IS GETTING OLD: Don’t blame him, blame Jimmy Page’s back. What do you expect? The guy is 56 years old. The ex-Led Zeppelin guitar god suffered a back injury forcing the cancellation of his current tour with the Black Crowes. No details on his condition were given. Maybe ol’ Jimmy can take a few lessons on staying in shape from Mick Jagger.

VERY SCARY: Scary Spice has plenty to be scared about. Her estranged husband, 30-year-old dancer Jimmy Gulzar, was arrested Tuesday allegedly for assault, police in Camden, England said. Scary Spice, also known as Mel B, married Dutch-born Gulzar in 1998. The couple has an 18-month-old daughter, Phoenix Chi.

BOWIE BABY:Rock icon David Bowie is a new daddy for the second time. His wife, supermodel Iman, gave birth to a girl, Alexandria Zahra Jones. Bowie, 53, reportedly assisted in the delivery and also cut the umbilical chord. The couple has been married for eight years and they each have one child each from previous marriages.

MR. BROOKS’ NEIGHBORHOOD: Whether or not semi-retired country singer Garth Brooks will turn his Nashville home into a museum depends on one group of people: his neighbors. The country star wants to turn his 20-acre estate into a tourist attraction so that his fans can get an up-close look at his home and family life. A private meeting has already been arranged on Wednesday so that his neighbors can voice their opinions. Brooks won’t be attending, however.
