N.E.R.D. thrill fans with all-star album at surprise listening party

Comeback kings N.E.R.D. revealed their new album will feature guests Kendrick Lamar, Andre 3000, Future, Ed Sheeran, Gucci Mane, and M.I.A. at a surprise listening party.
Pharrell Williams’ band staged their first concert in over six years at ComplexCon in Long Beach, California on Saturday (04Nov17), but the gig was so much more than just a show – the group debuted all the tracks from its upcoming album No One Ever Really Dies.
According to Complex sources, Lamar, who collaborated with Pharrell on To Pimp a Butterfly’s Alright, features on two new tracks, Kites with fellow guest M.I.A., and Don’t Don’t Do It, which is inspired by the fatal police shooting of Keith Lamont Scott in September, 2016. N.E.R.D. also released Lemon, their comeback collaboration with Rihanna, last week.
Instead of performing at ComplexCon, Pharrell, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley sat on top of a van as speakers blasted out the new album’s tracks.
“The album’s not coming out tomorrow,” Pharrell told the crowd. “We’re giving it to you. It’s yours. You got it before everybody else.”
There’s no official release date for No One Ever Really Dies, the revered hip-hop act’s first record since 2010’s Nothing.
