NAACP renews plan to boycott nets

The NAACP has again accused the major television networks of dragging their feet in efforts to promote ethnic and racial diversity on both sides of the camera. In an address to the organization’s 92nd annual convention in New Orleans, NAACP President Kweisi Mfume once again threatened to boycott one of the major networks unless progress speeded up. He declined to name the network but did say that he believes ABC has made the slowest progress. Each of the networks later issued statements denying Mfume’s accusations and claiming that they have made significant efforts to increase minority involvement.
