New Line can’t use “Diablo” title

A federal judge has barred New Line Cinema from using the name Diablo as the title of an upcoming movie, ruling in favor of game maker Blizzard Entertainment, owned by Vivendi Universal. Blizzard had taken the matter to court, saying that it plans to make its own movie called Diablo, based on a video game. In an interview with Wednesday’s Los Angeles Times, Paul Sams, Blizzard’s senior vice president for business development said: “We’ve spent millions and millions marketing and promoting these products. We feel that we have staked out a claim to the Diablo name.”
