Newcomer cast as John Paul Getty III in Danny Boyle’s TV anthology series

Newcomer Harris Dickinson has been cast as John Paul Getty Iii in U.S. TV thriller Trust.
The new anthology series, which will be shot in London and Rome, will chronicle the drama surrounding the teenager’s abduction in 1973. The late John Paul’s kidnappers demanded a ransom from his super-rich family and when they refused to hand over the cash, the thugs cut off a piece of the teenager’s ear and sent it to his parents.
Trust, created by Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle, will premiere next year (18).
Dickinson joins an A-list cast, including Oscar winner Hilary Swank as Gail Getty, John Paul Getty III’s mother, and Donald Sutherland as the Getty family patriarch.
Trust isn’t the only project in development to chronicle the Getty kidnapping ordeal – Ridley Scott has signed on to direct a movie version, titled All the Money In the World.
Michelle Williams recently entered talks to replace Natalie Portman as the abducted teen’s mum, with Kevin Spacey emerging as the latest frontrunner to play the boy’s grandfather, and Mark Wahlberg reportedly circling the role of Fletcher Chase, an ex-CIA agent dispatched to Rome to help find John Paul.
The harrowing incident left Getty III traumatised and he suffered a drug overdose, which led to a stroke, and kidney failure. He died a paraplegic in 2011 at the age of 54.
