Nicholas Hoult in negotiations to play Nikola Tesla on the big screen

Actor Nicholas Hoult is reportedly in talks to portray Serbian-American inventor Nikola Tesla in The Current War.
If the X-Men star signs on to the movie he will join Benedict Cumberbatch, who is playing American inventor Thomas Edison, and Michael Shannon, who will star as American engineer George Westinghouse.
The movie will centre on Edison and Westinghouse’s famous rivalry over the best way to supply electricity to the public in the 1880s. In 1884, Tesla travelled to the U.S. to work with Edison and he subsequently went on to invent the Tesla coil, which is still used in radio technology.
Timur Bekmambetov was originally slated to direct the film, but he is now producing, while Alfonso Gomez-Rejon will helm the movie. Shooting is set to begin in December (16).
This isn’t the only film centred on the rivalry in the works – The Last Days of Night will star Eddie Redmayne as a lawyer caught in Edison’s patent battle after he discovered the electrical current.
