Next week A.C. Nielsen Co.’s Australian unit will begin meeting with broadcasting executives in hopes of interesting them in a new device that could lead to the transformation of audience-measurement technology. The Sydney Morning Herald reports Thursday that the watch-like device, already worn by 22,000 people in Switzerland, can accurately keep track of every radio or TV station the wearer listens to or watches throughout the day. It will initially be offered to Australian radio station owners, but, the newspaper said, it can also be employed by television stations to accurately disclose which programs viewers are tuning in.
