Noel Gallagher blasts Harry Styles’ solo single

Noel Gallagher laughed off his wife’s comparison of Harry Styles’ new music to Prince’s back catalogue.
Three of the One Direction boys are currently battling it out in the charts, with Liam Payne and Niall Horan both keen to outsell their bandmate Harry with their debut singles.
Harry’s Sign of the Times has so far fared the best, though former Oasis rocker Noel doesn’t get why fans, including his own wife Sara MacDonald, have lapped it up.
“People of my age have let themselves go,” he told British station Absolute Radio. “They’re fat, balding idiots with fading tattoos. They sit in their garage and write s**te like Sign of the Times for Harry Styles.
“Quite frankly, my cat could have written it in about 10 minutes! I don’t mind the song, my wife was falling over herself, ‘Have you heard Harry Styles’ new song? It’s like Prince.’
“I was like ‘Without even hearing it, I can assure you it’s not like Prince!'”
It seems Noel’s brother Liam Gallagher disagrees though. The siblings have famously fallen out, with a backstage argument leading to the demise of Oasis in 2009, and since then younger brother Liam, 44, has continuously goaded 50-year-old Noel.
Of Harry’ self titled solo album, Liam recently revealed he likes the 23-year-old’s new sound.
“I don’t mind it, man. There’s some interesting bits in it,” he told NME. “I mean, I don’t know how it f**king goes, but fair play to him. I’m sure, like, it’s a bigger f**king cost. I’ve got the weight of Oasis still hanging over me and I’m sure I’ll always be that guy from Oasis, so I’m sure he’s carrying an equal weight.
“If he wants to get out of that pop world and into something with a bit more substance I think that’s a good thing.”
