Brett Ratner called Olivia Munn to discuss her allegations of sexual harassment before he publicly apologised.
Olivia hit headlines in 2017 after she – and five other women – spoke out about the sexual misconduct they had claimed to have experienced at the hands of the filmmaker in an expose for The Los Angeles Times.
The X-Men: Apocalypse star alleged Ratner had masturbated in front of her in 2004, and also claimed the 49-year-old had approached her at a 2010 party and confessed to ejaculating over magazines featuring her photo.
The director denied her claims at the time, and instead alleged that he had “banged” Olivia, and called her “bitter”.
During a panel discussion at the Emily’s List pre-Oscars brunch, the Magic Mike star revealed that Ratner called her in 2011, shortly after he dismissed her allegations.
“He said, ‘I was just joking about that. It’s just a joke and it got blown out of proportion,’“ Olivia, 38, explained. “He said, ‘Well look, we did date though, right?’ and I said, ‘No.’ And he’s like, ‘Are you sure we didn’t date?’”
She said she feared that Ratner was recording their conversation, and after she refused to comply with his story, the filmmaker apologized.
“He said, ‘I am sorry, I just don’t know why everyone’s so mad at me’,” the actress added.
The Rush Hour director then offered to publicly apologise on The Howard Stern Show the following day. “I said ‘Yes, tell them that you lied and we never dated’,” Olivia shared.
She ended her story by talking directly to Ratner, and said that she refused to let him ruin her life.
“The moment you came after me, you came under my rule,” Olivia fired. “And this isn’t going to be your moment in your world, this is going to be my moment in my world. And in my world, guys like you go home crying.”
