Approximately 30 prop Oscar statues of various sizes were given a fresh coat of paint on Tuesday for the 73rd Academy Awards presentation.
The prop statues range from 8 feet to 25 feet tall, and their refurbishing was supervised by scenic artist Rick Roberts.
The repainting of the prop statues is usually deemed necessary only every few years. This coming March, approximately a week before the ceremony, the prop statues will be delivered to Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium for use in the 73rd Annual Academy Awards telecast.
