Newcomer Otto Farrant has landed the role of Alex Rider in Sony’s teen superspy revamp.
The young Brit will play the character dreamt up by Foyle’s War creator Anthony Horowitz in an eight-part television show.
The latest book in the Alex Rider series, Secret Weapon, was published earlier this month (Apr19).
Alex Rider was previously adapted as a movie in 2006 with The Weinstein Company.
Announcing the casting news on Tuesday (23Apr19), director Andreas Prochaska tells Deadline, “We met a lot of people for the role of Alex Rider, but when Otto entered the room, there was something magical about him. He has the perfect combination of youth and skilfulness, innocence and professionalism, to bring this iconic character to the screen.”
