Panic on the Streets of London as Morrissey considers mayoral run

Outspoken rocker and animal rights activist Morrissey is “very seriously” considering running for Mayor of London.
Members of the Animal Welfare Party have launched a campaign to have the former The Smiths frontman’s name added to the mayoral ballot before Londoners head to the polls in May (16).
The motion requires just 330 signatures from supporters, and party officials believe the veteran star, a staunch vegan, will be able to defeat current Mayor Boris Johnson.
Morrissey has since responded to the move by appearing to embrace his supporters, suggesting that if he does run, his campaign will focus on attacking the meat industry.
A post on fan site True-To-You.net reveals the 56-year-old is “considering the contest very seriously”, while Morrissey has issued a statement to the site, which reads in part, “What makes such people have absolutely no forgiveness towards animals? What hate drives them? The meat industry, after all, shows no compassion towards the planet, towards climate change, towards animals, towards human health. It is diabolically contrived and is the world’s number one problem.”
He continues, “Social justice for animals is not much to demand, because we are only asking humans to think rationally and with heart, even if being unable to hunt foxes and shoot birds would leave the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (royal) family with nothing else to do.”
Morrissey also used the opportunity to attack celebrity chef Jamie Oliver for recommending people eat “kid meat”, branding the British cook an “animal serial killer” and wondering if he would “consider putting forth one of his own kids for general consumption”.
