Paul McCartney’s studio nerves are all over Love Me Do

Paul McCartney still squirms when he hears the Beatles’ recording of Love Me Do, because he can hear how terrified he was in the studio.
The track was the first the Fab Four recorded with music mogul George Martin, and McCartney admits he was initially scared of the tough-talking record producer after he made changes to the way Paul and bandmate John Lennon were singing the song.
The star told fans at the Desert Trip festival in California that Martin suggested the harmonica riff in the song begin as the duo sang ‘do’ in ‘love me do’, instead of after the line.
“To this day I can hear the nerves in my voice,” McCartney said.
