Pink to Perform National Anthem at Super Bowl LII

Pink is to perform the U.S. national anthem before the 2018 Super Bowl.

The What About Us singer, real name Alecia Beth Moore, was unveiled by NFL bosses on Monday (08Jan18) as the artist singing the anthem ahead of their showpiece game at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota on 4 February (18).

Pink, 38, who is yet to publicly comment on the news, will be accompanied by deaf actress Alexandria Wailes, who will perform The Star-Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful in sign language.

Previous stars to receive the honor of singing the anthem include Luke Bryan, who sang last year (17), Lady Gaga, Idina Menzel, Alicia Keys, Billy Joel, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, Beyonce, Cher, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey.

Justin Timberlake has already been announced as headlining the event’s spectacular half-time show.

The teams who will appear in Super Bowl LII are yet to be decided, as the NFL play-offs only began over the weekend (06-07Jan17).

Last year’s (17) champions the New England Patriots, and hometown team the Minnesota Vikings are among the eight teams still competing for a 2018 Super Bowl spot.

Pink’s national anthem performance will air live on NBC.
