Priyanka Chopra is to wear a custom Ralph Lauren gown to her upcoming wedding.
The Quantico actress will marry her singer fiance Nick Jonas in an extravagant three-day ceremony in her native India over the weekend (01-02Dec18), with at least part of the nuptials to take place at the Umaid Bhawan Palace, located in the city of Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
Priyanka has remained tight-lipped about what she will wear on her big day, however, in a cover interview for U.S. Vogue magazine, reporters for the fashion publication indicated that she will sport at least one ensemble from Ralph Lauren, dreamed up by the American designer himself.
“Chopra will wear a custom gown by Ralph Lauren, very likely more than one. Before this, Lauren has made wedding dresses only for his daughter, daughter-in-law, and his niece. But he personally came to Chopra with sketches,” the article revealed.
Selecting Lauren as her wedding dress designer seems like a logical choice, as it was the 79-year-old who really brought the couple together in 2017, when he dressed them both for the Met Gala and invited them to attend with him.
Chopra, 36, wore a red velvet Ralph Lauren gown to the 2018 Met Gala in May too, while the Hollywood duo stepped out for the first time as an engaged couple at Lauren’s 50th anniversary show in September.
Jonas is expected to sport one of Lauren’s suits for part of the day, which is to include both a traditional Indian wedding ceremony and a Christian service officiated by his father.
He will also make his entrance to the palace on a horse and will don customary Indian clothing, including a turban and sword.
“Are you comfortable on a horse?” Chopra asked her 26-year-old beau in the interview, to which he replied, “I am. I can’t wait.”
During the chat, the brunette beauty indicated that her new in-laws will be wearing Indian clothing for part of the ceremony as well, and said, “Nick’s mother thinks she was Indian in a past life. She rocks a sari.”
