Protests planned for royal couple’s Canada visit

Britain’s new royal couple, who wed in April (11), will jet across the Atlantic next month (Jul11) for their first international tour together and security will be high for their stops in cities across Canada, ahead of a trip to California.

However, it has now emerged members of a campaign group have announced plans to protest the royals’ visit to Canada with a rally during their time in Quebec early next month (Jul11).

Members of Quebecois Network of Resistance (RRQ) will demonstrate at the Quebec City Hall over the cost of the visit and the political ramifications.

RRQ leader Patrick Bourgeois tells the AFP, “If Prince William and Princess Catherine want to come to Quebec as British citizens for a honeymoon they pay for themselves, we don’t have a problem with it. But if they come at the invitation of the Canadian federal government, which wants to offend and humiliate Quebec separatists, we will be there.”
