An ambitious multimedia presentation that had been scheduled to open in New York on Sept. 14 and close today was canceled at the last minute because the subject matter, by chance, touched too closely on the actual events associated with the terrorist attack, the Toronto Globe and Mail reported today.
According to the newspaper, the Robert Lepage show features a gang of Middle Eastern terrorists and includes footage of actual plane crashes. The show, co-produced by singer Peter Gabriel and including a Cirque du Soleil contortionist, culminates in what the G&M described as “an apocalyptic plane crash. Lepage told the Globe and Mail that he had spent weeks studying Middle East suicide bombers. “We were faxing experts to ask if we had the right turban,” he added.
