Ramsay pays tribute to Kitchen Nightmares star

The body of Joseph Cerniglia, 39, was found floating in New York’s Hudson River last week (ends25Sep10) shortly after officials received a call about a man reportedly seen jumping off the city’s George Washington Bridge.

Cerniglia featured on Kitchen Nightmares in 2007, when he opened the doors of his debt-ridden New Jersey restaurant, Campania, to the cameras.

Ramsay has now issued a statement about the tragedy, paying tribute to the late chef.

He says, “I was fortunate to spend time with Joe during the first season of Kitchen Nightmares. Joe was a brilliant chef, and our thoughts go out to his family, friends and staff.”

Cerniglia is the second chef to allegedly commit suicide after appearing on one of Ramsay’s cooking shows. Rachel Brown, 41, shot herself at her family’s home in Dallas, Texas a year after appearing on Hell’s Kitchen in 2006.
