Rapper Common cast as title character in digital comic book series

Rapper Common has signed on to star in a new digital comic book series.
The Glory hitmaker will play the titular character in Caster, which is due out next year (18). The series will centre on an antiquities dealer who is led into the spy world by his search for his next big payday, according to Deadline.
Common will also score the series.
“It’s different than Indiana Jones,” the rapper/actor says. “What drew me to him – it’s something about his taste and (his knowledge of) antiquities. It’s very unique.”
The digital comic series’ concept was developed by Noble Transmission chief executive officer Austin Harrison and he explains he was inspired by an object that caught his eye in California.
“The character jumped into my head,” Harrison adds. “Caster chases down rare antiquities. But they’re not going to museums, they’re going to bidders who give him money.”
And LINE Webtoon bosses, who provide the publishing platform, hope Common’s casting expands their appeal.
“We definitely think Common brings new audience,” Tom Akel, LINE Webtoon’s head of content, says.
