Robert Pattinson is interested in appearing in a possible Twilight movie spin-off.
The British actor played vampire Edward Cullen in the hugely successful movie saga, opposite Kristen Stewart as his human-turned-vampire wife Bella Swan, and werewolf Taylor Lautner. The five films, based on Stephenie Meyer’s books, made more than $3.3 billion at the box office worldwide, and ended with the final film in the saga, Breaking Dawn: Part 2, in 2012.
However, Lionsgate studio boss Patrick Wachsberger got fans excited last year (16) when he said it was a “possibility” that more movies could be made.
Pattinson was recently asked about the rumors of his character Edward getting his own spin-off, and he was optimistic about doing more with the stories.
“Really, they’re expanding it? So I’ll get my own spin-off?” he quipped during an interview with Yahoo. “I mean, I’m always kind of curious.”
“Anything where there’s a mass audience – or seemingly an audience for it – I always like the idea of subverting people’s expectations. So there could be some radical way of doing it, which could be quite fun. It’s always difficult when there’s no source material. But, yeah, I’m always curious.”
The actor, who previously dated his former co-star Kristen, has since learnt to deal with the huge fame that came with the success of the Twilight movies, and revealed that the madness surrounding his private life has calmed down dramatically.
“It’s definitely calmed down in terms of my everyday life, but mainly because I spend more time in London, which is totally different. And I’m doing more parts that just sort of interest me, while in a lot of ways taking a little bit of a step back just to learn and get better. I guess I’ve never really acknowledged what the fan base is, or even if I have one,” he laughed.
