Roland Joffe to direct The Legitimate Wiseguy

Roland Joffe has signed on to direct a film inspired by the relationship between producer Nicholas Celozzi and mob enforcer Tony Spilotro.
Celozzi, who is the grandnephew of Chicago crime boss Sam Giancana, will produce The Legitimate Wiseguy, which will be filmed in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
“Though Tony and I had a father-son relationship, I was playing checkers while he was playing chess,” Celozzi says. “He was always many moves ahead of me.”
Spilotro, who was murdered in 1986, served as the inspiration for Joe Pesci’s character Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Santoro in Martin Scorsese’s 1995 film Casino, according to Variety.
