ROLE CALL: Ben Changes ‘Lanes’

Ben Affleck is a busy man.

The Hollywood Reporter says the actor is likely to star in “Changing Lanes,” a flick about a lawyer, a businessman and a small traffic accident between them.

After “Lanes,” Affleck will make his debut as action hero Jack Ryan in “The Sum of All Fears,” based on a Tom Clancy novel.

WAHLBERG STREET: Variety reports that Warner Bros. wants to buy the movie rights to “Born to Steal,” a yet-unpublished novel by Business Week reporter Gary Weiss, and based on the true-life mob infiltration of Wall Street in 1997. The studio is looking to put Mark Wahlberg in the starring role.

ACE OF SPADE: Variety also tells us that David Spade will star in “Puka Pete,” a comedy which he cowrote. The film will go into production after the actor wraps the fifth season of his series “Just Shoot Me.”

AIN’T NO CHICK FLICK: Mimi Leder,” whose directorial resume includes “Deep Impact” and “The Peacemaker,” is in talks to helm the thriller “Collateral,” Variety says. The flick is about a cab driver who unknowingly chauffeurs a hit man to do his dirty work.

‘FIGHT CLUB’ MEETS WWII: David (“Fight Club”) Fincher is in talks to helm “They Fought Alone,” a WWII flick based on real events, Variety says.
