Rula Lenska charged with drink-driving

British actress Rula Lenska has been charged with drink-driving after allegedly crashing her car while travelling with her three-year-old grandson.
The former Coronation Street actress was driving her Mini in Twickenham, south west London on Monday evening (22Feb16) when she clipped a stationary vehicle and her car flipped onto its side.
Onlooker Paul Mayhew tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “The Mini hit the back of another car, pushing it up onto the kerb, and it ended up on its side… A lot of people stopped and tried to help. As a result of the accident, the Mini’s ignition was killed, the doors were locked and the windows were powered up, so we couldn’t get in. It took quite a long time to get the woman calm.
“There was a child in a car seat in the back. Once we got them out we rolled the car back on its wheels. The woman was very shaky. The child was fine.”
Lenska took a breath test and was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol. She was later charged and released on bail, and is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court in London in March (16).
Lenska, 68, was once married to British actor Dennis Waterman, and has appeared in TV shows EastEnders, Doctor Who, Minder, and Rock Follies.
